ThrowBack Thursday TBT

Mark Regnerus conducted and published research proving that homosexual parents are not healthy for children. He was virtually burned at the stake.

Denny Burk wrote the following article to address the propensity for the world to crucify Christians for their counter-culture beliefs.

AMBrewster provides a challenge to Christians to prepare for the day when we, like Mr. Regnerus, are in the cross-hairs for our beliefs.

It will happen.

Will you be ready?

“I Could Not Do Without Thee” – Matt Burtner

Music Wednesdays

Too often we think we get along just fine without Him.

It’s a lie, but it’s one that tastes too sweet.

Please reflect on these lyrics as you listen to Matt Burtner’s beautiful guitar arrangement of “I Could Not Do Without Thee.”

____________________________________

I could not do without Thee
O Savior of the lost,
Whose precious blood redeemed me
At such tremendous cost.
Thy righteousness, thy pardon
Thy precious blood, must be
My only hope and comfort,
My glory and my plea.

I could not do without Thee,
I cannot stand alone,
I have no strength or goodness,
No wisdom of my own;
But Thou, beloved Savior,
Art all in all to me,
And weakness will be power
If leaning hard on Thee.

I could not do without Thee,
For, oh, the way is long,
And I am often weary,
And sigh replaces song:
How could I do without Thee?
I do not know the way;
Thou knowest, and Thou leadest,
And wilt not let me stray.

I could not do without Thee,
O Jesus, Savior dear;
E’en when my eyes are holden,
I know that Thou art near.
How dreary and how lonely
This changeful life would be,
Without the sweet communion,
The secret rest with Thee!

I could not do without Thee;
No other friend can read
The spirit’s strange deep longings,
Interpreting its need;
No human heart could enter
Each dim recess of mine,
And soothe, and hush, and calm it,
O blessèd Lord, but Thine.

I could not do without Thee,
For years are fleeting fast,
And soon in solemn oneness
The river must be passed;
But Thou wilt never leave me,
And though the waves roll high,
I know Thou wilt be near me,
And whisper, “It is I.”

Weekend Update: 9/6/14

Weekend UpdateWeekend Update from AMBrewster:

Victory Academy is officially open and we have a couple students arriving today. Staff training has been awesome, and we’re all very excited about ministering to the families He’s sending our way.

Of course, it’s always interesting to see how God doesn’t always give us what we think we “need.” That is to say, we don’t have as many students signed up as we’d like, but we’re trusting that enrollment will go up as our Lord sees fit.

As you think to pray for us, please make that matter a focus of your prayers. In fact, here’s a short prayer list for those of you burdened to pray for me, my family, and our new ministry.

  1. Pray that God would send us the perfect amount of students.
  2. Pray that God would provide just the right renter at just the right time for the Brewster’s home in Illinois.
  3. Pray that everyone involved responds in faith even if things don’t happen the way we think they should.

I’m very excited to start a new Sunday Sermon Series, and cannot wait to get back to writing more frequently.

Sincerely,

AMBrewster

Happy Labor Day!
